Steps to Keeping your Home Clear and Stress-Free
If you feel as though your home is always unclean, messy, or simply hard to stay on top of, then you will know how difficult this can be to work with. With that said, there are things you can do to try and make sure that you are not only keeping your house feeling great, but that you are also taking the time to ensure that you’re supporting your mental health.
Never Leave the Dishes
The first thing you need to do is make sure that you are never leaving the dishes out. Don’t leave them on the counter either. The main reason for this is that it will contribute to the smell in your home, and you may also find that it stops you from being able to make meals properly. Simple tasks like doing the dishes and then putting them away help you to maintain a clean house that you can feel confident in overall. If you can wipe down the counter and keep that clean, then again, you will find it easier to stay on top of things. Other steps, like tidying the bathroom, are also a good idea. If you can clean the sink, the toilet, and then spray down the shower, this will make a huge difference to how your home looks and feels. If mold is something that you are finding hard to deal with, then cleaning mold with vinegar can be a good solution, as it is not only a good way to get the job done, but it also protects you from using chemicals.
Touch Things Once
Another tip is to make sure that you only ever touch things once. If you find that it is very difficult to stay on top of things, then another thing you can do is try to make sure that when you pick something up, you don’t put it down again unless it is in the right place. If you have clothes left out, don’t leave them out to clutter the place up. Make sure that you either put them away or that you put them in the dirty clothes pile. If you can do this, then you will find that it is very easy for you to stay on top of the issue. Even things like taking the trash out when you pick it up are important, because if you don’t, then you will be creating double the work for yourself.
Get your Family Involved
Another good thing to do is to try to get the whole family involved. If you can get people to try to lend a hand with putting things away, then this will help you to stay on top of things, and it will also stop you from having to deal with things that are being left out by other people. Although you may find that you experience some resistance at first, taking the time to make sure that you are getting people involved is the best way to ensure that everything is as positive as possible moving forward.
