Do you feel as though your garden isn’t looking as good as it could be? Maybe you feel as though, as time goes on, disease is taking your plants from you, and you can’t afford to keep on replacing them. Either way, if this sounds like you, then there are some things you can do to try and help yourself.
Under-Watering
Water is essential to your plants. The best way for you to kill your plants, is to starve them of water. If the soil that is growing your plants is neglected, then you may not be able to bring them back, which is the last thing you need. Sometimes, soil can become dehydrated to the point that it is not capable of retaining moisture anymore. The best way for you to make sure that your plants are hydrated is to create a solid watering schedule. You need to stick with it as well, and make it part of your daily routine. Remember to get someone to water your plants for you when you are away on holiday as well. If you don’t, then you may find that it is more difficult for you to get the result you need out of your garden.
Over-Watering
Spoiling your plants and feeding them too many nutrients is also a reason why your garden is not looking as good as it could be. Over-watering your plants is a trap that you do not want to fall into. You should be trying to monitor your garden’s condition, and you should also be trying to take note of your soil. If it feels firm and it looks dry, then you need to water it immediately. If it feels moist and has a rich and brown colour, then you can probably leave it for a while. Take note also that different plants tend to have different watering requirements, and that you should be taking note of them if you want your garden to thrive. Remember that weeds can easily grow if your plants are well-watered, so if you can, you need to make sure that you buy some as this is the best way for you to keep them at bay.
Not Maintaining the Garden
Your plants need a good trim from time to time, and it’s not just for aesthetic reasons either. Dead foliage and blooms have to be cleared so that you can have new life grow in their place. You need to snip off any withered leaves and branches, and you also need to try and make sure that you use shears that have been sterilised. This is the best way for you to make sure that you are not introducing new diseases, and it also helps you to make sure that you are not forcing your plant to spend energy trying to grow fresh blooms on dead stems. Things like this are huge to say the least, so make sure that you keep that in mind if you want your garden to look great year-round.
