Before they became the dynamic duo behind Bailey’s Jewelers, Gary Bailey and Paul Little were polishing their skills in different corners of the jewelry world. Gary, a seasoned artisan, honed his craft at Peacocks Jewelers and as an independent contractor for Zale’s. Paul, on the other hand, was on a path less sparkly, armed with a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics before a fortuitous return to Shreveport in 1993.

It was in that pivotal year, 1993, that fate, or perhaps the glimmer of a shared vision, brought Gary and Paul together. What began as an acquaintance quickly blossomed into a sparkling business partnership. Their first joint venture, Bailey’s Jewelers, opened its doors in South Park Mall, marking the start of a local legacy. Just two years later, in 1995, they expanded their reach with a second location in Pierre Bossier Mall. The new millennium saw them claim a spot on Youree Drive in 2001, culminating in their current home at Emerald Plaza in Bossier City, established in 2003.

Today, Bailey’s Jewelers isn’t just a store; it’s a testament to enduring partnership and a deep commitment to their craft. With a staff boasting a combined 177 years of experience, they remain a forerunner in the industry. Gary, the creative force, dedicates his talents to designing, fabricating, and repairing jewelry, while Paul, the strategic mind, masterminds sales and curates their impressive new product lines.

Meet the Men Behind the Sparkle

Gary Bailey: The Artisan with a Competitive Edge

Hailing from South Bossier City, Gary Bailey is a true local, graduating from Parkway High School in 1975. His passion for jewelry ignited shortly after, leading him to jewelry school in Paris, Texas. For 24 years, Gary has shared his life with his wife, Lynette Boudreaux, enjoying the tranquility of Lake Bistineau. Together, they raised two sons, Caleb and Cole. Their daughter, Dana, though no longer with them, remains a cherished memory, her kind and warmhearted spirit continuing to touch those who knew her. Dana also gifted Gary with four grandsons, adding even more joy to his life.

Beyond the workbench, Gary is a man driven by competition. Whether it’s football, baseball, disc golf, or even a friendly game of “kicking a can,” he thrives on the thrill of the contest. Participating, coaching, or simply watching a game, Gary approaches every event with unwavering passion. His success in business has also enabled him to generously support numerous community and charitable initiatives, proving that his competitive spirit extends to making a positive impact.

Paul Little: The Aeronautical Jeweler and Devoted Son

Paul Little’s journey began in Shreveport, where he graduated from Huntington High School in 1978. His academic path took an interesting turn with a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics from Northeast University in Monroe in 1981. Though seemingly unrelated to jewelry, this foundation in precision and problem-solving has undoubtedly served him well in his current profession.

Paul is a proud father to two sons, Paul III and Jeremy, and a daughter, Jessica. An active member of his local church, he has also dedicated himself to supporting various charitable organizations. Like Gary, Paul has a background in coaching, having led teams in Xtreme Sports and for Evangel. While he’s recently discovered a passion for fishing, much of his time is devoted to caring for his parents, a testament to his dedication as a son. The Little family also maintains acreage in South Bossier Parish, adding another set of tasks to the plate of this multi-talented “aeronautical jeweler.” It was his return to the area in 1993, after a spell in New Orleans, that set the stage for the beginning of this remarkable business.
