Whitley R. Graves has earned the reputation of being a prepared, aggressive and effective trial lawyer in the Shreveport-Bossier City area and in many other areas in and out of Louisiana. He restricts his practice to DWI/DUI cases and his dedication to obtaining the best possible resolutions for people accused of DWI/DUI is recognized by judges and prosecuting attorneys as well as police officers.

His 45 year career in the justice system started out with the Louisiana State Police and later the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force. While working for the State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration, Whitley earned degrees in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from LSU Shreveport. After retiring from the Louisiana State Police, Whitley graduated from the LSU Law Center before joining the Bossier-Webster District Attorney’s Office where he retired as chief prosecutor before opening his private office.  He is licensed to practice in all Louisiana City, Parish, District, Appellate and Supreme courts along with the Western District of Louisiana, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

With the experience of more than 100 jury trials and literally thousands of bench trials, Graves methodically sifts through the innocuous and pinpoints the specific legal issues that need to be addressed.  Graves has presented more than 60 matters before the Louisiana Courts of Appeals and Supreme Court resulting in many decisions which have changed the manner in with the government conducts business with citizens.

“I try to handle every case in the same manner I would want an attorney I hired to handle my case if I had one,” Graves said.  “Having the prospective of all three aspects of DWI/DUI cases (police, prosecutor and defense), I see things from different angles than others.”

Graves is a member of the Louisiana State Bar, a two time Past Master and current Master of Temple Lodge F&AM, Past Director of The Royal Order of Jesters, the El Karubah Shrine where he is a Past President of the Sandmen Unit and where he serves as an Ambassador and Master of Ceremonies for the Shrine Circus, and the Scottish Rite where he is a Knight Commander in the Court of Honour.
