Zaria Jones sees life in vivid colors — and that’s how she draws it, too.

The 17-year-old Haughton High School senior enjoys tackling social issues and raw emotion in her work. She recently showcased in the i3 Art Expo featuring Bossier City students.

“My preferred medium is Prisma colors, but it can take a while,” she said. “If I need to get something out, I use watercolor.”

Zaria plans to pursue art as a hobby and will attend Louisiana Tech University in Ruston for mechanical engineering. She currently is a part of YACA and BETA at her high school. She also loves reading, even if it for class.

“Right now, I’m reading Animal Farm,” she said. “I spend most of my time reading and sketching.”

When Zaria is not in school, she’s listening to 90s R&B while she draws such as Aaliyah and SWV. She’s also into photography and enjoys watching people play video games online. “I’m not a gamer,” she said, laughing. “I can’t play a racing game other than Mario Kart.”
