Shreveport-Bossier City has something for everyone this March. Events include Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations, Crawfest at Betty Virginia Park, The Other Mozart on stage at the Strand Theatre, and several live musical performances including Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, Bob Seger, P!NK, plus many, many more. Come join the festivities in Windrush Park at Provenance for the Golden Gator Gumbo Cook-Off from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Food will be available for purchase from Jimbeaux’s & Son, amazing drink specials from celebrity mixologist Andy Flook, Lowder King Cakes for sale by Holy Angels, and live music from Professor Porkchop and the Dirty Dishes. They’ll even be a PicEnvy Photobooth on site. Admission is free.

MUSIC Willie Nelson & Family, 8 p.m., Shreveport Municipal Auditorium

With a six-decade career and 200 plus albums, this iconic Texan is the creative genius behind the historic recordings of Crazy, Red Headed Stranger, and Stardust. Willie Nelson has earned every conceivable award as a musician and amassed reputable credentials as an author, actor and activist. He continues to thrive as a relevant and progressive musical and cultural force. Come see him perform live at the Municipal Auditorium.

EVENT East Bank Market, 4 – 7 p.m., East Bank District & Plaza, Bossier City

The East Bank Market is a celebration of local vendors, handcrafted goods, artists, food and small businesses and will be open from 4-7 p.m. every Tuesday in March, April and May. The market will take place at the East Bank District and Plaza of Bossier City and will feature over 55 vendors and food trucks weekly. Come grab a bite to eat, shop the local vendor booths and enjoy the atmosphere with live music and fun activities for the whole family.

EVENT Ark-La-Tex Craft Beer and BBQ Festival, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, Shreveport

Want some good beer and BBQ? The 2018 inaugural festival proved to be a success with nearly 700 guests that enjoyed an afternoon of sunshine, craft beer, competition BBQ and comradery. Now, they’re getting ready for year two. Come join the fun as they once again celebrate the marriage of craft beer and BBQ at the second annual Ark-La-Tex Craft Beer and BBQ Festival — with a few additions to make this an even more enjoyable event. Enjoy unique craft beer samples from Louisiana, in addition to a large variety of breweries from across the U.S. and the ArkLaTex. This event offers great competition barbecue, live music, games and a little bit of regional history. It’s sure to be a day filled with education and fun.

MUSIC Alan Jackson, 7:30 p.m., CenturyLink, Bossier City

Country music legend Alan Jackson will bring a night of hits to CenturyLink Center on Sunday, March 10, with special guest William Michael Morgan. Jackson’s repertoire stands the test of time; it has impacted a field of artists who cite Jackson as an influence. It’s these same songs – many written by Jackson – that earned his place in country music history with membership in the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Fans will hear the songs they love from the man who wrote them and made them famous, including Here in The Real World, Chattahoochee, Drive, Gone Country, It’s Five O’clock Somewhere, and more.

FOOD 318 Restaurant Week, multiple locations

The goal of 318 Restaurant Week is to encourage locals and visitors alike to explore Shreveport-Bossier City’s restaurant scene by taking advantage of promotional pricing, special menus and one-night-only dining events. The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau and its partners launched this event in 2016. It returns March 18-23. Numerous restaurants offer lunch and dinner specials throughout the week along with some special, one-night-only dining experiences. Participating restaurants range from very casual eateries to more upscale restaurants.

FESTIVAL Bloom Festival, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., R.W. Norton Art Gallery, Shreveport

The Bloom Festival aims to provide cross generational education focusing on the 43 acres of botanical gardens on R.W. Norton Art Gallery’s property. The museum partners with master gardeners, local enthusiasts and education-based nonprofits from across the region to bring information to the community. Everyone from children to novice gardeners and master gardeners will find something to experience at this festival.  Bloom Festival 2019 will take place at R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport at 10 a.m. on March 23. Admission is free.  

EVENT Crawfest at Betty Virginia, 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Betty Virginia Park, Shreveport

The first festival of its kind to take place in Shreveport’s historic Betty Virginia Park, Crawfest is a celebration of food, music and community. In its 2017 debut, Crawfest hosted over 6,000 people to the free admission event, and in 2018 the crowd of over 10,000 marked the largest single day gathering in the park’s history. Concessions include Louisiana crawfish boiled onsite, a whole hog roast, smoked barbecue and various other food, desserts and drinks from a variety of local vendors.

If so, come learn about a variety of Asian cultures through food, art, dance, games and martial arts at the ASEANA Spring Festival, from 4-9 p.m. on Saturday, March 30 at the Asian Gardens located in downtown Shreveport  (near the Municipal Auditorium).
