And we promise that’s no joke…

“Laughter is coming back to Shreveport.”

Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club will have their grand opening on Saturday, May 5 at 618 Commerce Street in downtown Shreveport.

Festivities kick off at 5 p.m. with a Cinco de Mayo Happy Hour until 7 p.m. Comedians will then take the stage for a two-hour set. Entertainment includes Comedian Munchie, Glenn Stuart, Keys, JeremyUnmask, David Allen, Jeremy “Scooby” Houston, Funnyman Pratt and Tony Tamaccio. Admission is $10 at the door and attendees must be 21 and up.

“I know it’s cliché, but I truly believe laughter is the best medicine. There have been countless times where someone has come up to me after a show and sadi that being able to laugh has uplifted them during something they were going through. Laughter reaches across color lines, genders and brings people together and that’s what I love about it, the diversity,” said Quinton “Munchie” Washington who will serve as host on opening night. Washington is also over the in-house comedians at LOL.

The comedy club will be open Thursday through Saturday, with happy hour beginning at 5 pm and comedy starting at 8 pm. Thursdays will vary with entertainment (improv nights, ladies’ night, etc.), but Fridays and Saturdays will be ticketed events. While the establishment does not sell food items, they will host food trucks, coupled with their unique drink specials, and live jazz music. The club’s first open mic night is set for June 3 giving a chance to novice comedians to audition for spots on regular show nights.

“Shreveport doesn’t have an actual club where local comedians can come and work on our craft,” Washington said. “This club gives us that. This club is our house.”
