  • Jan. 14 — Krewe of Barkus & Meoux Jazz Brunch  (12-3 p.m.) Grand Ballroom at Eldorado Resort Casino, 451 Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway in Shreveport
  • Jan. 21 — Pet Royalty Raffle (12-3 p.m.) Rotolo’s Pizzeria, 1409 E. 70th St., Suite 129 in Shreveport. Enter the raffle to make your pet the king, queen, duke or duchess of Barkus & Meoux. The pets will remain the official royalty until 2019. Tickets are $1 each.
  • Feb. 4 — Krewe of Barkus & Meoux Pet Parade (12-4 p.m.) The former Reeves Marine building, across the street from the CenturyLink Center, 2000 Reeves Marine Drive in Bossier City; Food trucks, vendors and costumes.

Facts

  • In August 1999, the Krewe of Barkus & Meoux was officially organized as a non-profit Mardi Gras krewe to benefit the animals in the local communities.
  • The Krewe’s mission is to develop, foster and promote programs to benefit abused, neglected, and homeless animals, as well as to promote responsible pet ownership with public education about voluntary spray/neuter programs.
  • The Grand Marshal in this season’s parade is Pebbles.
