It’s almost time for a TASTE!
Food, drink and art come together for the 37th annual TASTE: A Festival of Food and Art presented by Holy Angels on Nov. 1 at the Bossier Civic Center.
From classic Louisiana staples such as jambalaya and crawfish supreme to petite pecan pies and chocolate covered strawberries, TASTE boasts more than 30 local restaurants and chefs under one roof.
New this year: mobile bidding at the silent auction. Bid from your cell phone to win beautiful pieces of fine art, gourmet gift baskets, autographed sports items, fine jewelry and more. Art available is designed by local artists specifically for TASTE, plus Holy Angels’ Angel Artists create more than 100 items through AngelWorks Enterprises. For the second year, Holy Angels will award First Taste to one of the local restaurants represented at TASTE. The People’s Choice Award winner will receive $1,000. Windstorm will also perform as well as the Holy Angels choir.
All auction and event proceeds benefit Holy Angels directly with approximately 84 cents of each dollar going directly toward caring for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that the organization serves each day.
Through Holy Angels’ AngelWorks Day Program and Autism Center, the nonprofit is able to provide day program and outpatient services to the community, including one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and meaningful work in one of five social enterprises: business services, culinary arts, creative arts, horticulture and Holy Rhino Coffee.
Holy Angels was established in 1965 and today is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to providing love, support and empowerment for individuals with disabilities. Holy Angels creates opportunities, allowing the highest level of independence possible for the more than 185 individuals they serve.
