Sometimes good things come to those who wait.

When I got married in the summer of 2017, I knew I wanted to have our honeymoon at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, FL. As big of a nerd as my partner and I both are when it comes to the Harry Potter series, it seemed fitting to finally go to a place as magical as our marriage (yes, we had a semi-themed wedding). I also knew we were flat broke and going immediately after our “I do’s” wasn’t an option.

Fast forward to the following April and we secured our tickets for the ultimate vacation at Hogwarts, a dream of mine since the park opened in 2010. We spent all year saving, but then as timing had it, we bought a house. There was a moment where I thought we might back out, but the thing is, this was non-negotiable. We were going to Hogwarts.

Waiting in line to board the Hogwarts Express.

The thing I learned when it comes to honeymoons (and it’s the same thing I learned with weddings), there’s not a right or wrong way to do anything. Sometimes it’s better to wait because then you get what you want. I’ve known many couples who have waited one or two years to go on their honeymoon. Whether it’s budget, timing, children or all of the above, make the memories that work best for you. You can view a gallery of our favorite Wizarding World hot spots here.
