CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital is Now Open

CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital is now open at 2531 Viking Drive in Bossier City. The new hospital includes an emergency department, six short-stay inpatient beds, and advanced imaging and diagnostic laboratory services. Outpatient imaging and lab services are also offered at this facility.

CHRISTUS Bossier Emergency Hospital is licensed by the state as a hospital and provides 24/7 access to emergency physicians, as well as short-stay inpatient beds for patients who require further monitoring, treatment, diagnostic testing, antibiotic therapy or post-operative care. The location also offers lab services and radiology testing to include X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound and 3D digital mammography.

Sports Commission Names Oswalt to Staff

The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission recently named Ronald Oswalt to the position of strategic partnerships and sponsorships director. Ronald will be responsible for establishing and mentoring business partnerships and sponsorships that generate value to the hosted events and return on investment to the partners. The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission is a division of the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau in partnership with the City of Shreveport, City of Bossier City, Caddo Parish Commission and Bossier Parish Police Jury. The overall mission of the organization is teaming up with the community to bring sporting events and festivals to Shreveport-Bossier City, Caddo and Bossier Parishes creating economic growth and quality of life.

Oswalt is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a Sports Administration/Sports Psychology Bachelor’s Degree. Tickets on Sale for ARTini 2018

The 9th annual ARTini Fundraiser is setting the scene to take you back to a nightclub in Morocco where romance and espionage are on the menu. The fundraiser will take place at 7 p.m., April 28 at Louisiana State Exhibit Building.

This Casablanca themed event will have you dancing the night away. ​ARTini is a celebration of the art of spirits featuring live music, local artists, and much more. Twenty Five area restaurants will create unique martinis and compete for the coveted titles of “Judges Choice,” “People’s Choice,” and “Most M’artisanal.”

Through funds raised, Bossier Arts Council (BAC) is able to sustain programming for the entire year. BAC’s galleries and programs provide services such as the One Stop Program that teaches the business side of art, galleries that showcase local artists, and extensive community outreach programs.

Tickets are $65 in advance $75 at the door and includes entry to Artini 2018, samplings of each signature martini, live music by Winston Hall, heavy hors d’oeuvres by John Cariere, and of course, the opportunity to take home amazing art.

LA High School All-Star Boys & Girls Basketball Teams Announced

For the sixth year in a row, the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission will host the Louisiana High School Basketball Coaches Association’s All-Star Boys and Girls Basketball Games. This year’s games will take place on Saturday, March 17, inside the gymnasium of Bossier Parish Community College.

“We are honored to be selected again to host the All-Star Boys and Girls basketball teams in our community,” said Kelly Wells, executive director of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission. We invite our communities out to see some great basketball and support the players.”

The Girls will start things off on Saturday, March 17 with a 1 p.m. tip off, followed by the Boys at 3 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults, $7 ages 6-college, and can be purchased on game day (cash only). One ticket is good for both games.

From the local areas, players to watch are: Sheniqua Coatney, Southwood; Jalen Harding, Benton; Christavious Thomas, North Caddo; Laretreavin Black, Southwood; Jalen Brooks, Woodlawn.

Dr. Prakash Peddi Joins Hematology/Oncology Associates

Prakash Peddi, MD, has joined Hematology/Oncology Associates in the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center in Shreveport. The clinic also includes Joyce Feagin, MD, Maxwell “Chip” McDonald, MD, Michael R. Moore, MD, Robert A. Nickelson, MD, Anil Veluvolu, MD, Nihar Patel, MD, and Tyler D. Lash, MD.

Dr. Peddi earned a Master of Science degree in molecular biology and biotechnology from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., and a medical degree from Kakatiya Medical College in India. He moved to Shreveport for an internship and residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport and completed a fellowship there.

Prior to joining Hematoalogy/Oncology Associates Dr. Peddi was professor of medicine at LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport and was director of sarcoma research at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center where he served as associated director of breast cancer research. He has co-authored more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Peddi holds memberships in the American College of Physicians, American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
