From the Editor: March 2019
I have to kick off this issue by recognizing the person whom I consider to be the face of SB Magazine Debbie Henry. This month marks her 10-year anniversary at the magazine and nine years as the steward of Eye on SB and now, SB Scene. Many are unaware that Debbie has a full-time job in addition to her work at the magazine. She comes home from work on Fridays, packs up her camera and notepad and hits the road to cover local parties and events happening that weekend. There also are many evenings during the week in which Debbie attends events and captures the good times. In a recent conversation, she expressed how much she loves her job and her passion for meeting new people while also seeing friends she’s made over the years. Another thing about Debbie? She is a great person and someone that radiates positivity. Thanks, Debbie.
Of course, I also have to recognize this year’s group of Top Attorneys — and it is an impressive group. We have some familiar faces on the 2019 Top Attorneys list, as well as plenty of new ones. With our annual Top Attorneys issue, we like to attach a cover story that in some way pertains to the legal field or those that work in it. Freelance writer Scott “Scooter” Anderson interviewed four local attorneys that work hard but also know how to play hard, too. It’s easy in our professional lives to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of work and everyone knows lawyers experience a lot of pressure. It’s important to have an outlet to relax and be ourselves and these attorneys have found ways to shed the stress of their day jobs.
If you’re looking for a way to relax from your job, check out one of the area’s numerous trivia nights hosted by restaurants and bars. Pick a night, any night, and I guarantee trivia is happening somewhere in Shreveport-Bossier City. Columnist Adam Bailey rounded up a list of regular trivia nights from around the area and if you know of one that isn’t on the list, please let us know. We’ll be happy to include it on SBMag.net.
