Picking up this issue, it’s clear that love is in the air — and so is change. Every new year, we make resolutions in hopes of changing or improving something in our lives. Sometimes change can be intimidating but many times it’s necessary for growth, whether in our professional or personal lives.
Every few years, SB Magazine makes changes to design, monthly columns and the website. You’ll see some of those changes in this issue, including a new column SB Luxe. Think of SB Luxe as a local take on Robin Leach’s Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Each month, we’ll spotlight an item that is both luxurious and pricey and of course with this being the Wedding Issue, we had to find the most expensive wedding gown available in Shreveport-Bossier City.
Another new column is SB Scene. If you’re at a community event, you’ve likely seen Debbie Henry in action. She’s the woman wearing a SB Magazine badge, a smile and a camera around her neck. Debbie has been a part of the SB Magazine team for years and she attends numerous events each month for her column, Eye on SB. For 2019, we’ve decided to feature more social photos from parties and events in SB Scene. We love looking at photos of locals enjoying the best that Shreveport-Bossier City has to offer.
While we are definitely looking into the future, you can’t move forward without understanding the past. Then & Now is a new annual section where we highlight multigenerational businesses. This year’s group of family-owned businesses are Bobby L. Greene Plumbing & Heating, Nader’s Gallery, Porter’s Fine Dry Cleaning, Rinchuso’s Plumbing & Heating, and The Sewing Shop.
Finally, if you follow SB Magazine on Facebook, you know about our 2018 wedding/engagement announcement giveaway. Each month, from February 2018 until the end of the year, we gave away a full-page wedding announcement to a couple that entered the drawing. The couples that did not win automatically were entered to win the ultimate wedding giveaway prize valued at $4000. We had hundreds of couples enter each month but all good things must come to an end. The winners of the ultimate wedding giveaway are Nicholas and Haleigh Roberts. Not only did they receive a spread in this issue, they won a diamond ring from Couch & Co. Jewelers, a one-night stay at Horseshoe Casino & Hotel, a gift certificate to Jack Binion’s Steakhouse and a $1,000 gift card to Spa Concepts. Congratulations to the newlyweds.
