It’s not often we get the opportunity to feature a celebrity on our cover but we are beyond excited to have Kevin Costner as the face of this month’s SB Magazine. Last year, we had the privilege of visiting the set of Netflix’s new movie The Highwaymen, (starring Costner, Woody Harrelson and Kathy Bates) as well as an interview over dinner with Costner about his time in Shreveport and the movie. Costner raved about north Louisiana, his favorite local eatery Cush’s, and his experience bow fishing with new friends in south Shreveport. I’ll never forget when he asked for one of my eggrolls and then said “I’m really not that sophisticated.”

I first saw Costner in the movie Dances with Wolves when I was way too young to even be watching Dances with Wolves. I have to confess that he was the first guy to give me butterflies, so sitting next to him and sharing eggrolls was a little intimidating but also sort of like a childhood dream. Of course, by the end of our visit, my entire perspective of Costner changed. Yes, he is just as ‘dreamy’ as he was when I was a kid, but he is also a regular guy — it just so happens his passion and career of choice have made him a household name. I hope you enjoy our cover story about The Highwaymen (the other side of the Bonnie and Clyde story), as well as our Q&A with Costner. And don’t forget to check out The Highwaymen on Netflix.

Spring has arrived, which can only mean one thing — spring fashion! For this spread, we took a trip to Uptown in Shreveport where our models took some time enjoying the shops and sunny weather while donning the latest looks from local boutiques. We love every look in this spread and I’ve already made room in my closet for a few of these outfits. Special thanks to Pretenses, King Hardware and Gifts, Counter Culture, Starbucks and Merle Norman for letting us invade your shops for an impromptu photo shoot.
