“Bright smiles can yield bright futures,” said orthodontist Dr. J. Sanders Graf. While at first this statement may not seem terribly profound given Dr. Graf’s occupation, just let him get warmed up. As it turns out, a smile to him is more than a reflection of happiness. It is simultaneously the mark of friendship, a means to opportunity and personal growth, and the fundamental principle that guides his practice’s vision.
“I find that the more our patients enjoy their time in our care, the more transformative their orthodontic treatment can be,” Dr. Graf said. “Patients not only complete treatment more quickly, but their self-esteem, confidence, and overall excitement is that much greater. Thus ‘happiness’ and ‘fun’ are key tools in the way I practice orthodontics. We share smiles to create smiles.”
“Our utilization of self-ligating braces means more comfort to the patient, fewer office visits, and a shortened time in treatment.”
Happiness and joy are made that much more effective as orthodontic tools given the robust and continually evolving technological infrastructure at Graf Orthodontics. In addition to his utilization of the most advanced braces systems available today, Dr. Graf invests significantly in cutting edge technologies and treatment systems.
“For example, digital radiography is not only better for patients. It also helps me craft a far more tailored treatment plan,” Dr. Graf said. “Our utilization of self-ligating braces means more comfort to the patient, fewer office visits, and a shortened time in treatment. And Invisalign has evolved to the point that, in the hands of an orthodontic specialist, teens and adults can realize their perfect smile transparently. But at the heart of it all, the smiles are a combination of great patients, great community, and a great orthodontics team.”
Dr. Graf has built his Shreveport and Bossier City offices on the 30-year foundation of quality established by his predecessor, Dr. Don Cope. And Dr. Cope’s quality was firmly ensconced within a vested team of talented clinical and administrative employees, a tradition still carried on in the practice today.
“Our practice feels like family to both the team and patients. It makes the orthodontic experience more fun than you’d believe. And again, the yield for all of us is the smiles. I love what I do for the smiles,” he said.
Dr. Graf met his wife, Eloise, while attending LSU in Baton Rouge, and they have three beautiful children, Sanders, 8, Mae, 6, and Nolen, 2. After graduating from LSU, he then earned his DMD from the Dental School at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he also attained his master’s degree in orthodontics. This program is considered one of the best in the nation, providing exposure to the most advanced technology in the orthodontic field today.
Dr. Graf is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association and a past president of the Northwest Louisiana Dental Association. In his free time, he enjoys watching LSU football, playing golf and, above all, spending time with his family.
