ARTS The Nutcracker, 6:30 p.m., The Strand Theatre, Shreveport

Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet brings the holiday classic The Nutcracker to life on the historic Strand Theatre stage. The Nutcracker will feature guest artists Jordana Daumac and Skylar Campbell from The National Ballet of Canada and a cast of more than 100 local dancers led by Artistic Director Kendra Meik.

EVENT Municipal Auditorium, Backstage Music Tour, 2 p.m., Shreveport Municipal Auditorium

Take the Backstage Music Tour of Shreveport’s most iconic performing arts venue, the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. Learn the stories and hear the songs of the many stars that have graced the stage. Walk in the footsteps of music legends and make your own debut when you get the chance to stand on the stage where idols like Elvis Presley and James Burton have performed. Tours start at 2 p.m. and cost $20 per person.

December 3

EVENT KCS Holiday Express, 4 p.m., Shreveport’s KCS Yard

The KCS Holiday Express will visit Shreveport’s KCS Yard beginning at 4 p.m. The KCS Holiday Express is a festive, six-car train that brings Santa Claus and his friendly elves to communities throughout the country. Visitors can visit with Santa Claus and walk through three-train cars filled with holiday displays. The event is free and open to the public.

EVENT Benton Christmas on the Square Festival and Parade, 10 a.m., Heritage Village Square & Sibley Street, Benton
EVENT Christmas in the Sky, 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., Harrah’s Louisiana Downs, Bossier City

It’s an event that only comes around once every two years. This must-see internationally award-winning gala benefits the Shreveport Regional Arts Council and the theme for this year’s Christmas in the Sky is “Broadway.”  So mark your calendar for Dec, 8 from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs.

COMEDY Chad Prather’s Star Spangled Banter Comedy Tour, 8 p.m., Shreveport Municipal Auditorium

Chad Prather is known for his comedic family stories told from an adult perspective onstage. He is a comedian, armchair philosopher, musician and observational humorist. He is often referred to as “the modern day Will Rogers.” A fast-talking combination of Lewis Grizzard and Jeff Foxworthy, he is one of the country’s fastest rising and talked about comedians and entertainers. See him perform live at Shreveport’s iconic Municipal Auditorium.

The Bossier Holiday Night Market returns with more than 200 vendors and more than a dozen food trucks. There is sure to be something for everyone including free admission, free family fun, food and live music at one of the largest outdoor vendor events in the Ark-La-Tex. Choose from market goods, unique food, wood crafts, jewelry, art, vintage clothing, ceramics, furniture, accessories, baked goods and much more.
