Brentwood Hospital is a 200-bed psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment facility located in Shreveport that offers behavioral health treatment services for children, adolescents, adults and seniors. Serving Louisiana, East Texas and South Arkansas since 1971, Brentwood Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission.
The services offered at Brentwood Hospital are customized for each individual. They offer a children’s program, an adolescent treatment program, adult psychiatric and chemical dependency programs, inpatient and intensive outpatient geriatric programs, as well as a separate women’s program, and outpatient clinic, and even military specific programs.
The medical staff specializes in helping individuals live healthy, productive lives. This is accomplished through child and adolescent psychiatry services, general psychiatry services, addiction medicine, geriatric psychiatry, and forensic medicine.
Patients suffering from depression or other emotional instability, uncontrolled anger and aggression, anxiety issues, self-destructive behaviors, substance abuse or other behavioral concerns can turn to Brentwood Hospital’s caring staff for compassion and help. They can even assist with life transition issues, trauma and abuse, and grief.
Their treatment programs seek to stabilize the crisis situation and provide education and support for the patient and their family. When called for, medication is managed by a psychiatrist, and their staff is available to assist in the transition from inpatient to outpatient. Each person has a unique plan for treatment, counseling, and discharge. Outpatient programs are designed to assist with transition from inpatient care or to stabilize symptoms before inpatient care is required.
Outpatient programs are available and offer a safe, structured treatment environment. They include evaluations and physical exams, individual treatment plans, and family sessions that include caregiver support and education. There are individual and group sessions available as well as activity therapy. Each patient is followed by a psychiatrist in all outpatient programs. Additionally children and adolescents are provided with two hours of school each day with a Louisiana board certified teacher.
Brentwood Hospital provides treatment services to active duty military members and veterans. They have a dedicated military liaison program accepting referrals 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week.They have veterans on staff who understand the unique issues faced by the military. Brentwood Hospital’s approach combines a biological, psychological, social, and spiritual focus to assist veterans. The individual case management is focused on resiliency and post traumatic growth. The military program offers inpatient dual diagnosis treatment, medication management, and medical detoxification treatment.
For active duty military, Brentwood Hospital maintains an active partnership with the military treatment facility. The unit command is also involved in discharge planning to ensure support and a smooth transition.
