2019 Top Attorneys: Yves M. Verret, III
Personal Injury • Criminal Defense • Family Law
Yves M. Verret, III, emphasizes integrity, dedication and aggressive advocacy in his legal practice. He primarily focuses on cases related to personal injury, criminal defense and family/domestic law and has experienced many successful outcomes for an ever-growing client base.
“Always keeping these principles in mind, I will never advise clients to move forward with a case if such a choice is not in their best interest; nor will I settle for a quick resolution to a case when clients’ interests would be better served by moving forward in court or at the negotiating table,” he said.
In 2018, Verret decided to expand and open Sevy Title, LLC, a full service title closing company, located at 1000 Benton Road in Bossier City (318.900.SEVY or sevytitle.com). He currently plans on maintaining his trial practice while building the title business.
A native of Monroe and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Verret obtained his Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from Northeast Louisiana University and subsequently entered the work force prior to attending Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge where he obtained his Juris Doctor.
Upon completion of law school, Verret moved his family to Shreveport where he worked as a law clerk at the 1st Judicial District Court. Verret is now in private practice and considers it a privilege to provide aggressive advocacy to the individuals who have entrusted in his services. He is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state courts, as well as the U.S. District Court, Western District.
“I see to it that each and every client is educated about his or her options, which in turn gives them the ability to make informed decisions while assisting me with the development of their case,” Verret said. “Because clients are assured that their case is being handled with the utmost attention to detail, they then have the peace of mind to return to their businesses, families, or jobs. They know that I will be working with their best interests at heart.”
For his professional achievements and commitment to the betterment of Shreveport-Bossier City, Verret was nominated and subsequently selected as a member of Shreveport-Bossier’s 40 under 40 class of 2012. Verret is a member of the American Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Shreveport Bar Association, the Bossier Bar Association, the Louisiana Association for Justice, the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Krewe of Justinian and is also a member of the Marine Corp Association and National Rifle Association.
In his spare time, Verret enjoys spending time with his wife, Bridget, and son, Ethan, traveling, and giving back to his community through organizations such as March of Dimes and Easter Seals Louisiana, where he served on the Board of Directors for both organizations. He is also an avid outdoorsman.
