Joey Hendrix, the son of the late Otis L. Hendrix and Joan Hendrix, attended Mansfield High School and graduated with honors in 1978. He received a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Louisiana Tech University in 1983, and then he attended the Paul M. Herbert Law School at Louisiana State University and graduated in 1986. He was elected president of the junior class while in law school.

Hendrix accepted a position in Shreveport working for the Hon. James Clark and the Hon. John F. Fant at the First Judicial District Court in Caddo Parish. He is admitted to practice in the State of Louisiana, Federal District Court in all Districts of Louisiana, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
