White Out Cancer Gala Set for Saturday
Whether it’s a close friend, relative or coworker, someone you know has battled cancer. Nearly one third of the people in the U.S. will develop cancer and over 1.5 million new cancer cases are diagnosed each year. Founded in 1913, the American Cancer Society’s straightforward mission is “to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer.” The organization achieves this mission through funding research, educating hospitals and communities on prevention and early detection, advocacy, and providing numerous patient service programs. The American Cancer Society provides over 3000 services to Northwest Louisiana patients and families each year.
For the eleventh year, the American Cancer Society will present the Baron’s Ball: White Out Cancer Gala, a fundraising event featuring live and silent auctions. Musical group Windstorm will provide the entertainment. There also will be raffles, and a souvenir photo booth. Each year the American Cancer Society honors a group of individuals as the Champions of Hope. Champions of Hope are chosen based on their connection to cancer, whether it’s through the medical community or a personal experience with the disease and will be recognized in a presentation at the Baron’s Ball.
