1. FREEdom Bird Pizza & Rural Savage APA Release
When: 11 am-9 pm, Flying Heart Brewing & Pub, 700 Barksdale Blvd, Bossier City
FHB&P has teamed up with The Port Grill to create their monthly pizza. The FREEdom Bird pizza features smoked, sweet tea brined chicken and BBQ sauce, with jack cheese, blue cheese crumbles, red onion, and spiced apples atop a handcrafted blue cheese sauce and crust.
2. Exotic Animal Races and Independence Day Racing
When: noon-6 pm, Harrah’s Louisiana Downs, 8000 E Texas St, Bossier City
Ostriches and camels will take the post between Live Horse Racing. Don’t miss these wacky races as the jockeys lunge to the finish line. They’ll also have a Kid’s Zone with face painting and food trucks. Post time for Race 1 is 3:15 pm.
3. 5th Annual “Independents” Day at Great Raft
When: 11 am-9 pm, Great Raft Brewing, 1251 Dalzell St, Shreveport
Come out for a cold one and enjoy “independent” shopping with Day Old Blues Records, Paige Powell and Pelican Parish Supply Co. and Ben’s Body Basics. There will also be live music by Ben Marshal, The Savage Trio (members of Rella), Shayliff and Logan & The Legendaries. In between, participate in a Hot Dog Eating Contest if you dare! There will be a special menu from Southern Fork Catering and lots of Great Raft beer.
4. Jazz in July
When: 6-10 pm, The Remington Suite Hotel & Spa, 220 Travis St, Shreveport
Featuring a 4th of July tribute with songs from the LA Jazz Legacy Band from the “birth of jazz” up to present in music genre. Enjoy a rooftop view of fireworks on the riverfront, outdoor Jenga, cozy seating and indoor bathrooms. LA Jazz Legacy begins at 6:15 pm. Event ends at conclusion of firework show. Cover: $5 adults, kids free.
5. Red, White & BREW
When: 5-9 pm, Red River Brewing Company, 1200 Marshall St, Shreveport
In partner with Fat Calf Boucherie, RRBC is hosting a fun night at the brewery featuring $10 All-American burgers and popsicles for the kids. Both Red River and Fat Calf offer military discounts and Red River will be giving $1 off first drinks for anyone wearing red, white, and blue.
6. Red River District 4th of July Bash
When: 4-9 pm, Under the Texas Street Bridge, 500 Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway, Shreveport
Hosted by Nicky’s Mexican Restaurant and Skylive, the Red River District will be lit up with live music the Hollow Decks and DJ Gordo.
7. 4th of July Party @ Bennies
When: 11 am-11 pm, Uncle Bennies, 752 Shreveport Barksdale Hwy, Shreveport
Party all day long at Bennies with drink specials, BBQ, and door prizes.
8. Tipsy Trivia: Fourth of July Celebration
When: 7:30-10 pm, The Korner Lounge, 800 Louisiana Ave, Shreveport
Test your knowledge and win some exciting prizes, from rounds of shots to a $30 bar tab. Team registration starts at 7:30 pm and the game begins at 8 pm. Registration is free.
9. IndiePenDance Day
When: 3:30-9:30 pm, Horseshoe Casino and Hotel, 711 Horseshoe Blvd, Bossier City
Go underground with Dare Day Club & CTRL ALT for the ultimate 4th of July DANCE pool party featuring a mix of your favorite EDM/CLUB, Indie-Dance, and Underground Dance Music jams. Featuring sets from Rye (Lafayette, NOLA Techno Club & Dancegruv), Moot (Shreveport, CTRL ALT), and Jaarzn (Shreveport, CTRL ALT)
10. Sportspectrum Firecracker 5K Race
When: 7 am-noon, Mall St. Vincent, Shreveport
Fun run begins at 7:30 am; 5K Run, Healthwalk, and Stroll begins at 8 am. All kids participating in the 1/2 mile fun run will be awarded a finishers medal. Entry fee for Kid’s Fun Run (ages 10 & under) is $12 and will include an official race t-shirt.
