Dr. Kimberly Law and her staff are a specialty clinic that provides child, adolescent, and adult psychiatric services through brief, interpersonal, and cognitive psychotherapy and medication management at Grace Behavioral Health Solutions.  She will soon offer an alternative treatment option for persons with opioid dependence.

Dr. Law was born and reared in Shreveport and attended Caddo Magnet High School. Her parents are Rev. Lt. Charles L. Law I and Dawn Ross Law, and she has three siblings. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans where she subsequently completed an internship and residency. In May 2003, she received the Dr. John W. Bick Award for Excellence in Psychiatry from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine –— Department of Psychiatry. She attended Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine where she obtained a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Prairie View A&M University.

She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., the Northwest Louisiana Branch of the National Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and Lily of the Valley #67 O.E.S., F&AM in Gibsland, LA. Dr. Law also is a member of the Speaker’s Bureau for a major international pharmaceutical company as well as the IRB Chairwoman of the Neuro-Headache TBI & Cognitive Research Institute/Regain Memory Center.

She works closely with a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Hazel Taylor Smith, MSRN, LPC, ANP-BC, PMHCNS-BC, who resides in Shreveport with her husband Ronald of 31 years. Their son, Rahvi, also is employed at Life Changing Solutions as a counselor. Smith enjoys nursing home visits with her church group. Dr. Law’s patients also may receive individual therapy with Elizabeth H. Peterson, LPC. Peterson lives in Shreveport with her husband, Sean, and their two children, John and Holland.

In addition to her own private practice, Dr. Law works as the Assistant Medical Director at Promise Specialty Hospital — Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and also is an attending psychiatrist on the inpatient addiction and geriatric units. She is the Psychiatric/Medical Director of several mental health rehabilitation programs in and around the Shreveport area as follows:  The Arc of Acadiana — Northwest, Hazel’s House (a therapeutic group home for girls), Jenkins Counseling Services, Life Changing Solutions, Love Covers CMHC, Metropolitan Circles in Shreveport and Natchitoches, LA, Mind Rehabilitation & Resource Center in Shreveport and Natchitoches, LA, Pelican Bayou Counseling Agency, Rising Up Family Services, and Unconditional Care Behavioral Center.

Dr. Law currently resides in Shreveport with her 5-year-old daughter, Olivia.
