Inside SB: June 2016
Any time you try something for the first time, it can be exciting and challenging. This month we are publishing our first ever Medical Directory. We discovered it really is true –– our health-care guide has been exhilarating at times and very hard work at times.
Executive Editor Devin White gets all the credit for heading up this ambitious project. She took ownership from the beginning, and we applaud her for a fine first effort.
The real beneficiaries of our 2016 Medical Directory will be anyone and everyone who reads SB Magazine. We know this issue will be in homes for the next 12 months as a reference guide when you need to find a physician.
In May, we celebrated our 16th birthday at SB Magazine. We held a Sweet 16 party at the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel complete with great food and great entertainment. It was a rousing success, if I do say so myself. Inside you will find four pages of fun photos from that evening.
Many thanks to our partners who made it possible –– Kevin Beasley Photographers (photo booth), Social Bites of Ruston (cotton candy machine), LaBloom Florist, Broadmoor Florist, Paper Shack & Party Store, and our cover band, SiDE fx. We can’t say enough about the support (not to mention the great food and door prizes) provided by Horseshoe Hotel and Casino. And a special thanks for our other partners who donated door prizes –– Couch’s Jewelry, Batteries and Bulbs, Strawn’s Eat Shop, Sleek Physique, Superior’s Steakhouse, Silver Star Smokehouse, Hair by Amanda Crowder, Ice Cold AC and Heating, and The Strand. We also are appreciative of your donations to our non-profit partner, Roy’s Kids.
It’s hard to believe SB Magazine has been published for 16 years. We couldn’t have done it without our loyal readers and advertisers. For the next 16 years, we hope to provide our community with the best lifestyle magazine found in northwest Louisiana. And we always are open to your suggestions for stories, as well as new features.
The print version of SB Magazine is 16-years-old, but we also want to highlight our new and improved website. Kim Webb, our digital media manager, has done an excellent job of making sbmag.net one of the very best sites in this market.
Kim provides fresh content daily, which gives sbmag.net a real vibrancy that you don’t find elsewhere in this area. It’s fun and informative; it’s entertaining and a must-read. If you want to know what is happening in Shreveport-Bossier City, you have to click on sbmag.net.
Back to our print issue for June.
We also have in this issue our home feature. We have this in our magazine six times a year. The home feature consists of photos and a write-up about a fabulous home in our community. It’s among the most read features in the magazines. We also have it online, and we have discovered it’s among the most read features at sbmag.net, as well.
If you know of a home that would be worthy of featuring on our pages, give us a call or send us an email. We would love to hear from you.
I also would like to call your attention to our monthly SB Gems column in this issue. It features the American Rose Center. Now, I have been to the Rose Center on numerous occasions, but it’s always great to be reminded of what a treasure it is for our community. We think you will agree.
Coming in July
We bring you the Top Real Estate Agents in Shreveport-Bossier.
