Inside the January Issue
Weddings are an amazing phenomenon in Shreveport-Bossier City, as well as throughout the United States. It’s a celebration like no other in our lifetime.
Sure, we celebrate Christmas and Easter and Hanukkah, and Thanksgiving. We honor our mothers and our fathers and grandparents. We make a big deal about our birthdays. We pay a lot of time and attention to Halloween. We have Memorial Day and Fourth of July and Labor Day.
But weddings are in a classification all their own. And, I would argue, that’s just fine. It is a very special day. When you have a special day, you want everything to go just right.
It takes a village to raise a child, and it also takes a village to make sure a wedding is seamless. After all, there is a lot to coordinate, from the wedding ring and gowns, to the reception and the honeymoon.
SB Magazine is here to help. Again this year, we bring you everything you need to know to have that perfect wedding. I think you will find our cover story informative, as well as interesting.
We want to wish you all the best with your wedding in 2016.
Some big changes are in the works for Bossier City. Some say it will be transformational. In 2014, the Bossier City Council voted to revitalize downtown. The plan is called Bossier City Downtown Re-envisioning. The end result will indeed be impressive. We give you a preview of the next big thing in Bossier City.
Every January we also have a special section on local schools, from elementary to colleges. I hope we all can agree –– there is nothing more important to our society than education.
We very much enjoy focusing on local schools and the good things they bring to our community. This month we are highlighting the women and men who teach our children every day. I hope they know just how important a role they play in shaping the future of Shreveport-Bossier City.
