Guess Who: September 2017
What do you get when you cross extreme passion for the Shreveport-Bossier City community with a huge love of culture and art? This month’s Guess Who, that’s what. Our guy stems from Shreveport originally, but moved to Austin, Texas for a whopping 15 years before returning home with his wife.
This wild one loves bringing the “coolest, most amazing people together to unite under one banner of gloriousness” that is the Louisiana Film Prize. He says Shreveport is an amazing place that gets under recognized. His organization brings recognition to the city that he has grown to love after only a few years of being back. “Prize puts filmmakers, musicians, entrepreneurs, culinary professionals, etc. in a place to practice their art. It’s a melting pot of artists.”
He’ll tell you himself that he’s probably in desperate need of ADHD medication and should stop drinking coffee immediately, but that’s not happening any time soon. He’s a huge family man and absolutely loves spending as much of his free time with his wife and two kids as possible. He also enjoys going to the movies — go figure. Lawrence of Arabia is his favorite film because it’s about a character that goes against all odds and does amazing things. Another favorite is Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory because one man’s whimsy and eccentricity leads to pure, unbridled magic and that’s pretty much how he feels about Prize.
Did You Know…
Our Guess Who is known for a couple more things: being unlucky in travel and loving tequila. “If you’re on my flight, be prepared for a delay.” He says whatever can go wrong during his travels, usually does. And as for the whole “tequila” thing…well “It’s the spirit and fuel of The Prize. Not bourbon, not vodka, not beer — no. None of that. Tequila neat — that’s my drink.”
Words for the Community
“You win in ways you never thought you could here. If you give to this town, it gives back. You get what you give here unlike anywhere else.”
August’s Guess Who is…
