It’s here — SB Fashion Week is only a few weeks away. We’ve been planning all year and at the end of this month, it comes together with four days of fashion related events. Presented by SB Magazine and Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry, SB Fashion Week is an opportunity for Shreveport-Bossier City to show off its style and celebrate all things fashion. With 20 boutiques and over 100 looks, this will be something the community has never seen in the area.

We wanted to give our readers a sneak peek of the main runway show (Sept. 29) in our cover story — Behind the Scenes — which was photographed by Brian Lewis at 601 Spring, the event venue for the fashion marketplace and main show. We would like to thank the models — Luna Corzine, Jacqueline Pracht, and Jalynn Pickens — and thank the amazing team at Spa Concepts for hair and makeup. Also, we would like to thank Greg Johnson with Lee Michaels for providing beautiful jewelry to complete the models’ looks and Majestic Tent & Event for their assistance with the shoot.

With a kick-off party at Flying Heart Brewing & Pub (featuring a performance by American Idol contestant Garrett Jacobs), tearoom modeling at area restaurants, a Beauty Bar & Project Broadway design competition at artspace, a movie night at Robinson Film Center, SB Fashion Week is good entertainment. But the most important piece of Fashion Week is our partnership with the non-profit Dress For Success Shreveport-Bossier. A portion of the profits will be donated to Dress For Success and each event will have a donation box to collect women’s new or gently used work appropriate clothing. If you are unable to attend the events, please consider donating clothing at one of the non-profit’s drop off locations (Azalea Cleaners locations and SB Magazine’s office). Read more about the incredible work being done by Dress For Success online soon.

Before I sign off, I would like to thank SB Fashion Week’s sponsors for making it happen: Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry, Spa Concepts, Downtown Development Authority, Majestic Tent & Event, Ark-La-Tex Dermatology, Holly Roca, The Sewing Shop, 601 Spring and May Marketing.

Tickets for the main runway show and the Project Broadway design competition are on sale now. To learn more about SB Fashion Week and to purchase tickets, visit SBMag.net/fashionweek.
