BLIND TIGER

120 Texas St., Shreveport, LA
318.226.8747

Located downtown in one of the city’s oldest buildings, The Blind Tiger is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.  Owners Glenn Brannan and Richard Sloan’s dedication and commitment to quality is why they continue to thrive.

If you are in the mood for a cocktail, they have several to choose from including the “Long-Allen Tea,” the “Fuzzy Tiger” and the “Silly Rabbit.”  The “Blind Tiger” is also a popular signature drink with a mixture of rum, sloe gin and amaretto blended with orange juice and sour mix served in a Mason jar.

If you’re in the mood for great Cajun food, the Cajun Sample Platter suits any craving.  This dish has been featured in Southern Living magazine and includes a cup of seafood gumbo followed by a platter of six signature items: blackened catfish, shrimp ettoufee, fried crawfish tails, meat pies, jambalaya and the wildly popular Cajun fried corn on the cob.  Another favorite is the pecan-crusted catfish filets smothered with house made Creole mustard cream sauce.  The menu also offers traditional favorites for those who aren’t in the mood for Creole, such as burgers, salads and sandwiches.  These are just some of the reasons The Blind Tiger is a Shreveport tradition not to be missed.

DON JUANZ

2333 Airline Dr., Bossier City, LA
318.752.3244

1409 E. 70th St., Shreveport, LA
318.524.9992

Since 2006, Don Juanz has always followed their belief that when you put the best ingredients in, you get the best food out. That’s why they use sustainable & certified seafood, all natural chicken, Certified Angus Beef, fresh produce, freshly made tortillas, gluten-free options, vegetarian and more. Don Juanz also sources local & statewide to infuse local flavor into their healthy coastal Baja menu.

Don O’Byrne, Founder/President, says “our commitment isn’t just about using fresh & pure ingredients, it’s about the ones we refuse to use in our food & margaritas. Additives like artificial flavors, MSG, lard, high-fructose corn syrup, food coloring from artificial sources, partially hydrogenated oils and many more with names too difficult to pronounce are never allowed in our kitchen or bar.”

Don Juanz even takes their equipment seriously, like making tortillas on authentic comals (comals have been used in Mexico to infuse food with rich flavors for centuries, becoming seasoned and tempered with time). Don also adds: “Both Don Juanz locations are Eco Friendly restaurants. We incorporate environmentally friendly elements into our restaurants, including: energy efficient LED lights, recycling waste, reclaiming and repurposing of building materials. This is why we are like no other— the passion of our people and the quality of our food is why we continue to strive to fill your tortilla with something you love!”
